Katelynn and her school band had a blast, the last 3½ days. They left early Saturday morning to fly to Florida. When they arrived at Walt Disney World, they went straight to Epcot. Katelynn did show her friends “Germany” and the sign of the city, where she was born. The following day, they spent the day in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. She said, her favorite area was Tomorrowland. And she enjoyed the fireworks, while standing next to Space Mountain. On the third day, the group went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and see the Blue Man Group in Universal Studios. Today, it was clearing the resort rooms, get on the bus to the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and fly back home to Dallas.
Tonight was Katelynn’s first Winter Concert performance as a High School student. Next to “Stille Nacht” (German for “Silent Night” by Franz Gruber), the Synphonic Band also performed “Bravura” (C. E. Duble), “Old Days” (James Pankow) and “Jingle Bells” (James Pierpont).
Here is “Stille Nacht” performed by TCHS Symphonic Band:
This upcoming Saturday, Katelynn will march for the last time this season. In the meantime she’s preparing for auditions, the Christmas Concert, more auditions, daily practice, even more auditions, and not to forget: the Walt Disney World Trip on Spring Break. 🎵🎷🎺🥁🎶
Since Katelynn had to participate with her High School Band in the Homecoming Parade tonight, it was a given that Sara was a part of it, too. Sara’s Elementary School Coach gathered the kids from his clubs, so they could walk in the parade as well. Kevin parked at the High School and walked to the starting point. When he arrived, I decided I’m gonna walk in the parade. It has been over four months, since I walked a mile. And this was the perfect first walk after my surgery. In the stadium, the girls were still participating in a dance with the football players, cheerleaders, band, other clubs and the Homecoming King & Queen. The sisters had so much fun, they actually got along with each other, which is very seldom these days. As parents we have to savor these moments. 😉
