Hey y’all! I’m Zoey, a black Pitador, adopted from The Colony Animal Shelter, nine weeks ago. Today is also NATIONAL BLACK DOG DAY. And therefore I want to say something. We black doggies are full of unconditional love, playful, and have beautiful shiny fur. On top of that, we make great companions, just like all the other puppies. I don’t know, why we get so easily overlooked, when it comes to adopting a dog. All I know, I’m very thankful, that the Chesters had a big heart and let me be a part of their pack from here on forward. I appreciate it very much by being a good dog, give them sweet puppy kisses, make a good playmate for the kids and my furry brothers and sisters, which are another dog and three cats. Please! Next time, when y’all go to the shelter consider to adopt one of us doggies with black fur as well. Here is sweet YEEHAA! from a Texas four-legged beauty. Thank you for taking your time, reading these words. It’s time for me to go back and play with my stick and my tennisball And to all my black puppy friends:
Happy Black Dog Day!
This week was tough on all of us. First Lexi had to be euthanized due to sickness and old age. And then we were adopting a new dog, due to an over-flown shelter. Ozzy had to get used to let one friend go and then become friends with a new furbaby, that has even more powerful gas, than he could ever produce. It got the best out of a young, very energetic cat like Ozzy. Mr. Ozzy “Meatball” Chester found his master, a female pup. So it is time for long naps on the ottoman.
This week was very busy. First we’ve got our hearts broken, because we had to let Lexi cross the rainbow bridge on Tuesday. Then I found out, that our local shelter is over-flown with dogs and cats, and they call this situation “CODE RED”. Last night, I talked to Kevin, if we are ready for another dog. The shelter needs relieve by adopting those sweet pups and kittens. Kevin agreed, we could take another furbaby in.
This morning, Kevin, Katelynn, Sara, Luis and I went to the shelter as soon as it opened. After a Meet & Greet, we decided we give Leti, which is now Zoey, a shot. We were told, she doesn’t like small dogs and no cats. I heard that before, and was determined that my pets all get along with each other. And sure enough, as soon as Zoey entered our house, Joshua waited patiently at the door (he’s cool with the ladies), Chewbacca watched her from a higher level in the dining area, and Ozzy’s back hair was standing up. But Ozzy wanted to play as a kitten. After a couple of swipes and nips, Ozzy and Zoey got along with each other. They chased one another in the house and played tag. After a nice walk, the dogs are tired and sleep in the frontroom.

Wow! This week was big for lil’ Ozzy. Joshua and him became closer friends. And Ozzy finally got neutered on Wednesday. After we brought him back home in the afternoon, Josh’ was the one waiting for him at the door. But it didn’t take long, until both cats were their old selves, again. Ozzy: “Let’s play catch! TAP! You’re it!” Joshua: “Dangit, leave me alone little @#$%!” 😹
Our kitty, Ozzy, has been with us for one week now. He plays with Sara, and the other pets; he nose-kissed Joshua on July 4th (Joshua is still not 100 percent sure, what to think of Ozzy. But he seems to tolerate Ozzy a bit more); after all this excitement, he had a little tummy bug on Friday; he eats and drinks a lot; and he grew a little bit bigger, since we’ve adopted him last Monday. I spoiled him with toys. Sara spoils him with a lot of attention, very day. Right now, he takes a break and snoozes on the ottoman. Mr. Ozzy has to be fit for tonight’s foot attacks. If he doesn’t claw my feet, he claws Kevin’s body parts I don’t really want to mention here. I know, Ozzy can be a little sh*t. That’s why we love him so much. And he fits perfectly into our family.
Say Hello to our new kitten, Ozzy, We’ve adopted him today. This morning I woke up, and decided, it’s time for a new cat to complete our house again, After Finley crossed the rainbow bridge, I had a hard time to even think about adopting a new cat for the last two years. But today was the day. I know Finley looks down from cat heaven, and is very proud that another animal found a furever home in our family.
Ozzy came home with us, and we introduced him to the gang. Luis sniffed out the box, while Ozzy tried to get out of it. Ozzy gave Luis a nose kiss, and they were buds from that moment onward. Chewbacca was next, he sniffed Ozzy’s butt. It’s funny, because this is usually the dogs’ job. But Chewbacca is a “dog” in his own way. Then our diva, Joshua, saw Ozzy. OMG, speaking of diva and drama. Joshua hissed and was mad, because he is so jealous. Chewbacca gave him a piece of his mind. And Joshua is mad at everyone, now. We have to give josh’ about 48 hours, and he will be alright. Even Lexi came out from her nap to welcome Ozzy into the family.
Sara played with Ozzy all afternoon. Now, they are both tired and take a nap on the couch. They literally pooped each other out.
