… after Halloween has been a tradition in our family for over a decade. Back in the days, when Katelynn was little, Kevin smashed it for her. And Katelynn kicked the Pumpkin all over the backyard. These days, the girls are big enough to smash them themselves.
Katelynn picked a pumpkin from the frontyard and smashed it in the backyard. Sara watched her and saw, how much fun her big sister had with the Jack-o-Lantern. She ran out to the front, picked a pumpkin, dragged it in the backyard and kicked it. Luis looked at the girls and those “Jacks”. He was not sure, what to think of this game. He sniffed around the pumpkins, when the girls were done. We leave the smashed vegetables out in the grass. Mr. Squirrel, Mrs. Rabbit, and Mrs. Cottontail might pick on them, before the pumpkins become nutrition for the soil.
Sara has so much fun, destroying the pumpkins.

Día de los Muertos
¡Feliz Día de los Muertos!
First it looked very bleak for Trick-or-Treat. But when I picked up Katelynn from school, she mentioned something about “Trunk-or-Treat” in her school gym. “… Maybe Sara would be interested in it, since it rains”, she said. Kevin went with the girls, and Katelynn’s friend to the High School. And when it stopped raining, they went Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhood. My job was to get the pizza in the oven and give out candy.
Since Luis barks too much, I had him in the backyard. But somehow he managed to open the patio door and came back in. He was in, but Lexi and the cats were out. Luis ended up in Sara’s room; Lexi came back in; Joshua spent some time in the garage; and Chewbacca kept checking out the backyard, until he got tired of getting “rained on” from the trees.

Tonight I checked my decoration and lights, before the big day tomorrow. On Halloween, it suppose to rain all day. I don’t know, if we can go to Trick-or-Treat. But we have a Plan B, in case that part falls in the water. I will spend most of the day, carving pumpkins and cooking a good Vegetable Beef Soup. Who knows, maybe I get a little fire going in the fire place.

Today is the last “Halloween Season Monday”. Since I blogged last year, I don’t need to include 2017. If you like to take a look, just click on October 2017 in my Archives list.
Katelynn and Sara celebrated Halloween as a Pirate and a Witch. The neighbors were asking, if they can take the girls to “Trick-or-Treat” with them, since their girls said it would be more fun with more people. They all went to Deerfield in Plano, while Kevin and I stayed to give out candy at home. It was a quiet Halloween for sure. We had only a few kids.

In 2016, we went to quite a few events with the kids: Fall Festival at a local nursery, pumpkin farm, 5K Pumpkin Run at Joe Pool Lake, State Fair of Texas, etc. Our October was very busy.

This pumpkin could make a witch jealous. 😀 😉

It’s another “Halloween Season Monday”! This time, I talk about the years 2013 & 2014. Both years, we also went to the “Family Fright Night Camp Out” in The Colony.
In 2013, we decided we wanted to register for the “Family Fright Night Camp Out” in our city. It’s an annual event on the lake peninsula in Stewart Creek Park. We brought our camping gear, Halloween decoration and lots of candy. The event has costume competitions, Halloween decoration competitions, scream competition, Trick-or Treat, Movie Night, etc. The girls loved the camping in the park. For the Halloween season, I carved five pumpkins. Three we used for the above event. And then I carved another two for the girls on Halloween.
DIY candle jars, I decorated with the kids for this event.

As the previous year, we went to the “Family Fright Night Camp Out” again. In 2014, it was much warmer than the prior year. We brought our fire pit to have a little campfire going, this time. The girls had fun. And I won the pumpkin carving contest. Hey, $50 in form of a gift card is not bad. I actually repeated that again, on Halloween. Kevin brought the pumpkin I carved for Halloween to the Italian restaurant down the road. They had it as a display for the night. And a few days later, they called me back saying, I won a $50 gift card. This was a good and creative season. 😀

… to be continued next Monday, October 29, 2018 …
Kevin and I had the Halloween decoration up, since September 30th. The last couple of weekends we’ve got rained out, so we couldn’t finish setting the lights up. But we finally could do it today. I’m so happy the lights are done. On Halloween, we get the witch out.
After all the rain, the rest of the Halloween lights are up finally this weekend.
