While the water sprinkler was running in our raised bed garden, I captured some photos of the flowers, vegetables, and fairy light. I love May! It’s still comfortably warm, and everything begins to flourish after all the rain storms in March and April.
This morning, the rain was so soothing that we slightly overslept. We still all made it to work and school in time. But Kevin usually gets up 30 minutes earlier than he did today. That half an hours is HIS wake up and shower time, before he wakes Sara and me up. Since Katelynn’s school begins much later, she can snooze another 45 min., before it is time for her to get up.
It is mild outside. Flora and Fauna can use all this precious water, before it will get hot in the upcoming several days. Kevin will be busy, mowing the lawn more frequently as well. But today, I just take the beauty of this soaking and cleansing rain in.
Since about five years I’m looking for cute Mickey & Minnie garden statues. The ones I found online were either made out of poor material or out of my price range. Yesterday, I went to a local store. And there they were sitting in the shelf: Mickey & Minnie about 10 inches tall, hard plastic material, and for only $10/each. I had to “adopt” these two sweet mice, where they can make adorable decorations between the flowers in my greenhouse from here on forward. I might do something extra with them for Valentine’s Day. 💞💖💗
August is almost over; the kids are back in school. Summer comes to an end, and it is time to get prepared for Autumn. We finally have an official date to get the flooring done in our house. Earlier this month, I cleaned the garage out to make room for some furniture and some boxes. I really don’t like to look forward to move all the furniture around and deal with the mess of the construction. But once it is done, it will look beautiful. I have to keep the positive outcome in mind. 😉
The garden needs to be prepared for the Autumn/Winter season. A lot of crops love the cooler days, like cabbages and carrots. That’s also a good time for weeding the garden, since the mornings are not so hot and humid anymore. Soon, the migrating birds and insects will visit the garden. It will be good for them to have a welcome place they can rest, before they have to move on to travel south.
In the meantime, I’m sitting outside with a cool drink in my hand and enjoy the last days of Summer.
