A Break From The Summer’s Heat

Getting a break from the heat is very welcome in Texas at this time of the year. Yesterday, we still had three digit weather. And this morning, the relief came when it began to rain. The wind and the thunderstorm brought in cooler air. We do not expect to get higher than low 80s in the afternoon. Tonight we suppose to get round #2. That will be a good opportunity to open the window and air out the house in the morning.

Stunning Cloud Display During Sunset

Kevin wanted to watch his ghost show on TV, which spooked Sara a little bit. Even after telling her several times it is only a show, she did not like it. So, we two sat outside and watched the clouds in the sunset instead. The Sun and the clouds provided quite a bit of a display. In the distance, we also could see some Mammatus Clouds. Sara enjoyed this so much more than the silly ghost stories. Joshua keeps her company while they both watch Spongebob. 😉

A Brewing August Summer Storm

Tomorrow we suppose to get a break from those three digits, hot and dry days. Hopefully, the storm won’t miss us. Because, the soil needs water. But we definitely will appreciate the “cold front” in the mid 90s (34ºC). During today’s afternoon and evening, we could watch the clouds coming into DFW. It is always fascinating to see the clouds. They look like mountains, we don’t have in the prairie.

Summer Sunday (2)

This Sunday, Kevin, the girls and I went for a hike to Tyler State Park. I always wanted to check that place out. Due to “Barry” about an hour east of us, it was a bit cooler but very humid today. Here and there, we had a little sprinkle. But it was worth getting out and doing something with the family.

Relaxing July Evening

Today was just one of those days, I didn’t feel like doing much. Some days are there for being lazy and do a whole bunch of nothing. But I still went outside to do my daily photography. Kevin found a young toad, when he worked on mulching the west side of the house. A Pearl Crescent butterfly enjoyed some nectar from the blooming Lantana flowers. The Texas sunset was beautiful as always. And I could capture the Moon in some clouds; a very beautiful and dramatic setting, we’ve had this evening.

The Approaching Summer Storm

Hot and Humid are the two words for today. Therefore, the thunderstorm approaching from up north was a very welcomed sight in North Texas. The wind cooled the temperatures down, a little bit. And it was much more comfortable going outside, once the storm past through. It’s still very humid.
