A few years back, I made a new friend in my greenhouse. While I was looking for my scissors to cut some dying leaves from a plant, I discovered this zipper spider near my tools. It was minding its own business, while I watered some plants and promised me to be a good helper by catching and eating pesky bugs.
… is a good garden friend and built her web at one of the tomato cages. Now, my tomatoes are protected by her from bad bugs. She seems to enjoy her spot in the evening Sun. It’s warm, and perfect for catching her prey.
At this time of the year, when it is nice and warm, lots of little insects love to hang out in my garden. This is a good time for this little jumping spider, to catch itself a meal. While it was climbing up my butterfly weed, I could get a hold of it in front of my lens. I always love, when a jumping spider “poses” for me. So did this one a few years back. ❤
I’m not a big fan of spiders. But I also know, they are very beneficial for our garden environment. Therefore they begin to fascinate me more and more. Katelynn and Sara usually give these garden friends a name, when they stick around longer than a few days.
