Sara as Maleficent
Katelynn as Wednesday Addams
This year, the girls and I decided for some “darker character” costumes. A new Maleficent movie and a Addams Family movie have been released in the theaters. Katelynn and I watched the older Addams Family movies from the early 1990s. She got an idea, who is Wednesday Addams. And Sara just loved the idea to be Maleficent. I didn’t like the fact, that the costumes are too expensive and didn’t even look all that great. Kevin and I looked for clothes in the thrift store. It didn’t take long and I found all the material I needed. We paid less than $25 for both costumes. The horns, I had to get separately. The rest, I gathered together in our house. Katelynn and Sara wore their best costumes on a budget. And they both had a blast with them.
Oh Jack! Didi you really had to party so hard? 😄🎃🤮
Katelynn and Sara are gutting their Jacks. So much pumpkin goo.
Jack’s still hurling. 😄🤮
While Katelynn and Sara helped me carving pumpkins, Jack decided to party his big day. Unfortunately, he drank too much wine and too early in the day. Jack did not enjoy Halloween, because he threw up his guts. EEEWW, JACK!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 Blessed Samhain!
In late October, we have our first fire of this season.
The rain finally moved out of North Texas. But now, we get a cold front coming through, which brings the temperatures down to the freezing point. Tonight and tomorrow night suppose to be chilly, before the temperatures will slightly rise into the 60s, again. Before Kevin came home from work, I started a fire in the fireplace. Now it’s nice and cozy inside the house, while the cold wind is blowing outside. The Halloween scented candles are burning. Time to watch a spooky movie, tonight.
… and more rain
The rain feels so good, because it is so needed in Texas. But the temperatures are becoming cool way too fast, now. In the beginning of the month, we had temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s. Now, we deal with low 30s in the upcoming nights. And October is not even over, yet. This weather reminds me of the November-“Schmuddelwetter” (“yucky rainy weather”), when I grew up in Germany. On a good note, we have plenty of fire wood to keep us cozy warm in the days ahead. And by the end of this week, it suppose to get a bit sunnier and warmer.
