North Texas Backyard Wildlife In January (9)

Before sunset, several birds came for dinner to the feeders. I guess, it was more a meeting of the male birds. Mr. Finch, Mr. Sparrow, Mr. Cardinal, and Mr. Junco were showing up and had a little chat, while enjoying their seeds in our yard this evening.

Orion, The Hunter (2)

On Sunday evening, while I was waiting for the Moon to get behind the Earth’s shadow, I took another shot of the constellation Orion. Waiting for the big event of a Lunar Eclipse can be very boring . Meanwhile I always try to make the time feel shorter by capturing photos of the night sky. Orion was the perfect object in the January Winter sky.

North Texas Backyard Wildlife In January (8)

Lots of feathered friends came over in our yard, all day. The feeders got emptied so quick, that I had to refill them twice. Next to the Blue Jays and the Northern Cardinals, we had a Bewick’s Wren, an American Goldfinch, two Black-capped Chickadees, White-winged Doves, Mourning Doves, Black-eyed Juncos, House Sparrows and a Red-bellied Woodpecker. A couple of squirrels ran to the feeder to grab some of the peanuts, before they jumped over the fence and into the neighbor’s tree. Yeah, I have that feeling that they didn’t like the Turkey Vulture circling over our house. A nice squirrel or bird snack had been fantastic for the big predator. But not on my watch, today. There’s plenty of mice and rats in the neighborhood. They taste as good as any rodent meat. πŸ˜‰

Tonight’s Super Blood Moon/Total Lunar Eclipse (01-20-2019)

Brrr! It was chilly this evening. But we have a fantastic sight of the Full Wolf Super Blood Moon, tonight. In the following link I described, why we experience a Super Blood Moon:

Kevin & Joshua

Joshua loves spending time with Kevin. While we were waiting for the grill to heat up, Joshua sat in the catio. When the meat was grilling, Joshua smelled the chicken. And he wanted to get out of the cat cage. Kevin picked him up and snuggled with him for a bit. Joshua enjoyed the attention from his Daddy, and rested in Kevin’s arms for a while. Life is good, with grilled chicken and enjoying the warm rays of the Sun in Kevin’s arms. I have to agree with Joshua. πŸ˜‰
