This afternoon, we had a farewell party for Kevin’s co-worker. Him, his wife and son are moving back to the UK. We celebrated at the Truck Yard in Lower Greenville of Dallas.
Arriving at the Truck Yard, I liked it from the first minute. The Truck Yard is fairly new, it opened in 2013. It has the flair of a beer garden, “junk yard”, great food, live music, and it is dog friendly. They even encourage to bring your pooch with you. Every day, different food trucks park in the yard to sale their signature dishes. While waiting for the food to be done, we got one of these light-up pagers. Some guests go to the bar, get a drink and find a table under the shading umbrellas and trees in the meantime. The Truck Yard has a truck schedule on its website. If there is food from a particular truck, and the truck parks in the yard f.e. on Wednesday, that might be a good day to visit. I had the “Rice Bowl” from the Ssahm BBQ truck. I was wondering, why my taste buds recognized a hint of far eastern flavors. Later I found out, they serve Korean-Mexican foods. That’s awesome! And it tasted great. Why did I never get the idea of mixing these two flavors? 😉
John Tipton played some tunes with his band on the stage truck, today. It was a great day in a good place to say good bye to a wonderful co-worker.
NOTE: Since I didn’t capture the photo and it was done with Annette’s cell phone, I can’t take the credit for the last photo above.
