The Colony Shoreline Trail In May

May is the month, when everything begins to flourish at the Shoreline Trail. While it gets warmer, the trail becomes an ocean of wildflowers. The butterflies, bees and other insects fly from one blossom to another. And the wildlife has plenty of food and space to raise their offspring near the shoreline of Lewisville Lake.

Here and there, I can see a dragonfly skim over the pond. The turtles bask in the sun, and with a quick splash they slide into the nice cool water. Only a little head stuck out on the surface indicates, they are in the pond. Sitting on a park bench, greeting neighbors who walk, hike, jog or bike ride on the trail makes it a beautiful morning in May.
